SL RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL 2022
VISITING ROYALS
Our Honored Guests Breast Cancer Survivors & Caregivers
Honey Potts
This past July I was diagnosed with stage 1 Breast Cancer after they found a small mass in my left breast. after doing several tests and weighing the options I was given I had surgery on August 21st 2021 and had a full Mastectomy of my left breast. I honestly thought I could handle the change more as I had seen my grandmother go through it 40 years earlier. It has been the most difficult thing I have ever had to deal with in my life nothing can prepare you for how you feel after you see yourself for the first time. It was so drastic Im a full D cup and after I looked llke a washboard on one side so was very lopsided and I have become very depressed and I get emotional about it so easy now. I was told I caught it in time as when they did the surgery it has barely started to metasticize and had doubled in size from when I had had my PET scan. I don’t feel whole right now but I have been undergoing physical theray to help with the muscle loss from under my left arm as they had to take muscle and glandss out as well. I am able to Drive again after a month of therapy and Next Tuesday I will start to go through 6 weeks of Radiation treatment. Once I have completed that I will undergo reconstructive surgery to replace what I have lost. It is a long road but I am still here and I want to show we can survive and thrive after this. It is so hard to deal with but with all the support I have seen it helps more then people realize.
